Hari Har Kchetra Mandir was founded years before 1932 and was the first Hindu Sanathan temple in the region of Quatre Bornes and nearby town of Rose Hill. The temple initially was a very small and bigger concrete temple was built in 1932 with the help and contribution of Shri Doorga Bhagat, Shri Baichoo Madhoo , Shri Shiv Sunkarsing Ghoorund, Shri Sumputh family and Shri Dhana Mahathon, Shri Sookun Gaya and others to whom the Mandir members are highly grateful. Further major improvements and enlargement of the temple were carried out over the years and particularly in 1980.
The Temple is strategically located in the Centre of Quatre Bornes and iswell known given the high number of devotees around 10000 we welcome each year during Maha Shivratri every year. The temple carries out all pujas and religious activities and our temple was the first one in the region to perform some of the pujas and religious activities for the first time in Mauritius, such as Tulsi Viva, Goburdhan Puja, Gopashtami Puja, Kartik Mass Puja.

Profile: Pandit Shiv Sharma Hurreeram
Pandit Shiv Sharma Hurreeram now 56 years old comes from a Brahmin family of Priests both from his Paternal and Maternal sides. Pandit Ji has been officiating as Priest for more than 35 years and as Officiating Priest of Hari Har Kchetra Mandir since 1987 (33 years) where his maternal Grandfather Pandit Shiv Shankar Gujadhur was the first officiating Priest of Hari Har Kchetra Mandir. Pandit Ji studied up to HSC and is also holder Uttama 2nd part Certificate in Hindi and followed a 2 Year Sanskrit Classes. Pandit Ji has also followed a Karmakand course from his Guru Pandit Shivanand Buldawo for more than 2 years. Furthermore PanditJi has been fortunate to have Archaya Ram Janma Mishra, PhD in Sanskrit and Astrology, a very highly learned Jyotishi and in pujas, for more than 20 where he has been trained by Acharya JI in religious knowledge and preachings. Through his Guidance Pandit Ji got the chance of attending Banaras Hindu University for a 1 year course in Astrology and Vastu. Pandit Ji has also officiated Shrimad Bhagwat Maha Puraan Katha and Shiv Maha Puraan. Pandit is highly appreciated by all devotees of our Mandir for his pujas and preachings.
