ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT, THE GENERAL SECRETARY, THE TREASURER AND FOURTEEN (14) OTHER MEMBERS TO SIT IN THE MANAGING COMMITTEE FOR THE PERIOD 2026-2028
Notice is hereby given to all ordinary affiliates of the Mauritius Sanatan Dharma Temples Federation that the election of the President, the General Secretary, the Treasurer and fourteen (14) other members
of the Managing Committee of the said Federation for the period 2026-2028 will be conducted by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner on Sunday the fifteenth (15th) day of March 2026; and that the Returning Officer will receive notices of candidature for the said election on Friday the twenty seventh (27th) day of February 2026 between the hours of 10.00 am and 2.00 pm at the Office of the Electoral Commissioner, 9th floor, Max City Building, Cnr Remy Ollier and Louis Pasteur Streets, Port Louis.
Each ordinary affiliate will be entitled to designate one candidate to contest a maximum of two seats in the Managing Committee, namely one of the following positions:
- (a) the President;
(b) the General Secretary;
(c) the Treasurer
and
- that of a member.
Each candidate will be allotted a symbol of identification and will be invited to make his choice from an official list of symbols obtainable from the Returning Officer or to submit a line drawing of a symbol of his/her choice in black colour on white background which should fit within a space of 20mmx15mm but shall not consist of any letter, word, figure or alphanumeric in any language, or any punctuation mark.
Candidates wishing to constitute a group and hence be allotted the same symbol are requested to sign a “collective letter” to that effect, and to submit same to the Returning Officer when tendering their notices of candidatures. They should also designate one candidate from their group to act as “leader of the group”.
Forms of notices of candidature as well as “collective letters” may be obtained either at the Head Office of the Federation, Le Triangle, Réduit or from the Returning Officer, 5th floor, Office of the Electoral Commissioner, MaxCity Building, Cr. Remy Ollier and Louis Pasteur Streets, Port Louis, during normal office hours (9 am to 3.30 pm).
Each notice of candidature shall specify the name of the ordinary affiliate, the full names, address of the candidate and the position(s) contested. The notice of candidature shall also contain a declaration that he is qualified to stand as candidate for the said election.
Each notice of candidature must be signed by the President and Secretary of the affiliate and accompanied by a certificate signed by the Secretary of the Federation to the effect that the delegate of the affiliate is qualified and eligible to stand as candidate for the said election. The notice of candidature must be delivered to the Returning Officer at the Office of the Electoral Commissioner, 9th floor, Max City Building, Cnr Remy Ollier and Louis Pasteur Streets, Port Louis between the said hours of 10.00 am and 2.00 pm on Friday the twenty seventh (27th) day of February 2026.
Notices of candidature received by post, fax, email or otherwise will not be considered.
